On November 25-26, 2024, as part of the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence, the international conference “System for combating domestic violence in Central Asia” was held.

The international conference was held, the participants of which were politicians, parliamentarians, innovators, representatives of government agencies, international organizations, the non-governmental sector, the scientific community and experts from Central Asia and Germany. Within the framework of the sessions, the main trends, achievements and challenges in the region were identified, and specific proposals were made on issues of protection from domestic violence based on the principles of inclusiveness.

As part of the session “IT technologies in the fight against and prevention of domestic violence”, the online program “Umai” was presented at the conference to provide assistance to women victims of gender-based and domestic violence, the successful results of the study on the implementation of this program in Almaty on the basis of NGOs and government organizations were announced, as well as recommendations for further dissemination of the program in other regions and in Kazakhstan as a whole. Following the conference, the resolution, among all the recommendations for raising public awareness and a culture of non-violence, noted the need to develop an online platform for victims of violence based on the Umai program tools, which will allow assessing the level of risk, automatically generating assistance routes, connecting victims of violence with medical, legal and social services through a single platform, which will help speed up the process of receiving assistance, identify key problem areas based on the analysis of collected data and develop targeted interventions with the involvement of resources of government agencies and public organizations to improve the coordination of their work and interaction.
