Astana hosts the international scientific conference «Family and Demographic and Gender Policy at the New Stage of Development of Kazakhstan»
International scientific conference «Family Demographic and Gender Policy at the New Stage of Development of Kazakhstan» organized by the Ministry of Information and Social Development with the support of the UN Women and the National Commission on Women and Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the RK is held on November 17-18, 2022 at the Palace of Independence.
The conference is attended by over 200 participants in a hybrid format, including members of the National Commission on Women Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the President, members of Parliament, representatives of central and local executive bodies, scientific-expert community and representatives of NGOs.
Today, moderating the first part of the event, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan Elvira Azimova in her welcoming speech noted that the main goal to be achieved as a result of the 2-day exchange of experience is to discuss the results and achievements of Kazakhstan in the field of family, gender and demographic policy, as well as the formation and development of new topical approaches in this sphere.
«It should be noted that Kazakhstan implements a systematic family and demographic and gender policy. One of the state bodies, the activity of which is approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is the National Commission on Women’s Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is a consultative and advisory body authorized to develop recommendations on the definition of priorities, the formation and implementation of a comprehensive state policy on family and gender equality within the framework of the Concept of Family and Gender Policy and international treaties on family and gender equality to which Kazakhstan is a party. It should be noted that a number of progressive measures, including recommendations in the development of the Constitutional Law «On Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan», adopted on November 5 this year were implemented with the direct assistance of the Commission», – said E.Azimova.
At the meeting participants discuss the role and contribution of scientific and expert community in the implementation of the state family and gender policy of Kazakhstan in the new stage of development. Conference participants supported the idea of creating a dialogue platform for representatives of government agencies and the scientific and expert community to discuss topical issues of protection of the rights and interests of families, women and children. They also raised the issues of promoting the ideology of cultivating family values, strengthening the institution of marriage and family.
