\ud83d\udea8 Gender-Based Violence in Kazakhstan: The WINGS Initiative<\/strong> \ud83d\udea8<\/p>\n

\ud83d\udce2 Did you know that 1 in 4 women globally experience intimate partner violence (IPV), and 10% face sexual assault by non-partners? In Kazakhstan, up to 24% of women report physical\/sexual IPV, with even higher rates among marginalized groups.<\/p>\n

At the SVRI Forum 2024<\/a> in Cape Town, South Africa, Sholpan Primbetova presented<\/a> UMAI\/WINGS project<\/a>, an evidence-based intervention designed to reduce GBV among key affected populations (WKP), including women living with HIV, sex workers, women who use drugs, and transgender women (TGW). It was an amazing gathering of the inspiring community of 1,502 delegates from 112 countries, united in their commitment to ending violence against women, violence against children, and other forms of violence driven by gender inequality. Delegates worldwide brought their expertise and shared new research, innovative practices, and collaborative solutions. It was an unforgettable experience, with so much learning and inspiration to change people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n

\u2728 What we have:<\/strong>
\n\u2705 WKP face 23-75% higher IPV rates globally;
\n\u2705 Cultural stigma & discrimination prevent victims from seeking help;
\n\u2705 Lack of services & legal protections worsens the crisis;
\n\u2705 The WINGS intervention reduces IPV\/GBV rates through screening, support, and policy advocacy.<\/p>\n

\nWe\u2019re expanding WINGS across Kazakhstan & Central Asia to train NGOs, strengthen GBV services, and push for inclusive policies.<\/p>\n
