{"id":607,"date":"2023-01-10T10:12:53","date_gmt":"2023-01-10T10:12:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cspisf.org\/?page_id=607"},"modified":"2023-01-18T10:45:56","modified_gmt":"2023-01-18T10:45:56","slug":"exmat-ca","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cspisf.org\/?page_id=607&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"ExMAT-CA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Expanding Medication-Assisted Therapies in Central Asia (ExMAT-CA)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em>Center of Scientific-Practical Initiatives has started a new study with Yale University (PIs: Dr. Frederick Altice (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/ysph.yale.edu\/profile\/frederick-altice\/\">https:\/\/ysph.yale.edu\/profile\/frederick-altice\/<\/a>) <em>and Dr. Lynn Madden <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/medicine.yale.edu\/profile\/lynn-madden\/\">https:\/\/medicine.yale.edu\/profile\/lynn-madden\/<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/aptfoundation.org\/about-us\/bios\/\">https:\/\/aptfoundation.org\/about-us\/bios\/<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>OBJECTIVE:<\/strong> To scale-up opioid agonist treatments (OAT) in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan by training, coaching, facilitating and supporting national narcology experts (CNs) on the use of <strong>The Network for the Improvement of Addiction Treatment (NIATx) <\/strong>and create national NIATx collaboratives and a 3-country learning collaborative.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>BACKGROUND:<\/strong> The NIATx collaborative is a group of CNs involved in the provision of OAT who seek to increase the number of patients receiving OAT by improving the care processes in their clinics via coaching linked to rapid-change cycles, within the existing legal framework. We will include all of the Oblast CNs to create learning collaboratives at the oblast-level, which will then be replicated at the country, and regional levels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>OUTCOMES:<\/strong> Our primary outcome will be total scale-up of patients on OAT nationally and per oblast. Because patient census is a function of patients entering and dropping out of OAT, these will be our secondary outcomes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>PROJECT ACTIVITIES OVERVIEW<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The team at Yale University will:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Create and distribute protocols for client and program-level assessments;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Train and hire local experts who will be conducting all day-to-day research activities in each country;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Obtain approvals from al ethics committees to ensure all activities are ethical and appropriate;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Communicate frequently with stakeholders to inform them regarding progress of the project;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Train local experts on the use of the NIATx implementation model;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Supervise the implementation of the NIATx model in all 3 countries;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Schedule and help organize national collaboratives and the regional, 3-country collaborative;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Provide continuing expertise to national and regional stakeholders to improve OAT scaleup;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Analyze OAT scale up, and the factors influencing it, from national and regional perspectives;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Publish all scientific findings from this project, making them available to all stakeholders, participants, government officials, and the public, so as to benefit future OAT scale-up.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The stakeholders and participants in each country will:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Provide initial authorization for the conduct of research in each country;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Work with the Yale team to conduct baseline and and all serial follow-up assessments;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Provide the Yale team with data pertaining to the scale up of OAT in their country for analysis;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Participate in the NIATx process by creating change teams, implementing rapid-change projects, and evaluating results from the PDSA cycle framework;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Participate in monthly NIATx calls at the Oblast level;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Participate in quarterly national NIATx collaboratives;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Participate in yearly regional, 3-country collaboratives.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> A complete explanation of all methods can be found on the NIATx website (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.niatx.net\">www.niatx.net<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-633 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/cspisf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/projcEX-1024x465.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cspisf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/projcEX-1024x465.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cspisf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/projcEX-300x136.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cspisf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/projcEX-768x349.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cspisf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/projcEX-1536x697.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/cspisf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/projcEX-2048x930.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/cspisf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/projcEX-1440x654.jpg 1440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Expanding Medication-Assisted Therapies in Central Asia (ExMAT-CA) \u00a0 Center of Scientific-Practical Initiatives has started a new study with Yale University (PIs: Dr. Frederick Altice (https:\/\/ysph.yale.edu\/profile\/frederick-altice\/) and Dr. Lynn Madden (https:\/\/medicine.yale.edu\/profile\/lynn-madden\/, https:\/\/aptfoundation.org\/about-us\/bios\/).
