WHO Pilot Project – “Assessment of Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices of Healthcare Workers in Management of Hepatitis C in Kazakhstan” (2025–2026)
The pilot project of the World Health Organization aims to examine the baseline knowledge, attitudes, and practices of healthcare workers involved in the management of patients with hepatitis C (HCV) and to identify key barriers affecting the quality of care.
The study is being conducted in six regions of Kazakhstan and includes an online survey of 200 physicians, including infectious disease specialists and narcologists, and expert interviews.
The quantitative component will identify gaps influencing clinical decision-making, while the qualitative analysis will help determine barriers such as stigma, limited resources, and the needs of patients with HCV.
Expected outcomes include a national stakeholder workshop, preparation of a final report, documentation of identified barriers, commitments from key partners to support further initiatives, and publication of an article in a peer-reviewed journal.
